Ribbon Cutting/Dedication Ashley Dearing Park

Each year, Youth Leadership Academy students, staff, and families participate in a school wide service project to help impact the local community. Since January 2023, our focus has been to raise funds to purchase and install fully wheelchair accessible swings at public parks across Pickens County. Before 2023, there were no fully wheelchair accessible swing at any park in the county.

The 2025 Hot Pursuit 5K/ Catch a Cop event raised the funds to secure a third swing, which is currently being installed in Clemson, SC at Ashley Dearing Park on Berkeley Drive. The swing should be installed and concrete finalized in the next two weeks.

A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony has been scheduled for Friday, September 26^th at Ashley Dearing Park in Clemson, SC, located at 1020 Berkeley Drive Clemson SC 29631. The event will begin at 10:00am and will have law enforcement, elected officials, Youth Leadership Academy students and staff, sponsors, community members, and representatives from various university and community organizations in attendance. One of our very own students will take the inaugural swing once it is dedicated, and we are so excited to see it!
